  • Omaha Poker & Rakeback

Posted on July 26th, 2010 admin No comments

To start this off lets quickly look at rakeback. Rakeback is something you get from the online poker room after paying tournament fees or rake in cash games. This fee is the tax for arranging poker games. It is simply the most important thing when starting with online poker as it will maximize your net profit or help you get breakeven when you have a bad month. There is no excuse to not sign up to a room without rakeback, it’s just not right.

Omaha poker is a bit more complicated then Texas Holdem. Omaha is quite unique on every limit  , it is best to start at the lower limits . Instead of getting dealt two cards like in Holdem, in Omaha you get four cards  . Holdem and Omaha maybe do not seem so different but in reality Omaha is more complicated  .

I You can use one or both of your cards in Holdem   but in Omaha you can only use two of your four pocket cards when making the best poker hand. Flush is only possible if you have two of the needed suit cards in your hand . If you have Ks-Kc-Ah-Js and flop is 2h-3h-9h you cannot make a flush. When you have K-K-2-7 in your pocket and board is A-Q-J-T then you only have a pair of kings. If there is a set on the board you need to have a pair in your hand to make full house. If you have A-Q-9-7 and the board is A-Q-6-6-6 then you have three sixes with ace high. If the board is 2-2-T-T and you have A-T-3-4 then your hand is three of a kind, tens.

If you split up your cards then it is easier to understand your starting hands strength  . Out of all pocket hands you can have six combinations . 9-8-7-6 gives 9-8, 9-7, 9-6, 8-7, 8-6 and 7-6. Everything is connected so the combinations are perfect  . Good starting hands give more draws, like a flush draw or a straight draw or both at the same time. The perfect hand would be As-Ts-Ac-Qc because you have two nut flush draws, full house draw, straight draw and quads draw. greatest difference between Holdem and Omaha is that in order to win you most likely will need the nuts or something one step down . In Holdem you probably think you have the best hand with a ten high flush but in Omaha you would need at least a king high flush to even consider having the best hand  . You basically need to play pocket cards which provide you with the best chance to make the absolute nuts. It’s rather simple actually, „Just play the nuts“!

Omaha is not the most popular game in online poker but it is very strong and the bigger online poker rooms are home for regular Omaha players which makes winning harder  . Since bigger rooms are full of regular players it is best to look for Noxwin rakeback deal or the other good choice 888 Poker rakeback VIP program because these online poker rooms provide rakeback or cashback and also have a lot of beginner players at Omaha tables.

  • Poker Tournaments vs Cash Games

Online Poker Tournaments vs Cash Game

If you play online poker then you must take into account different aspects  . What to choose ? Which game to learn  ? Why should i play this ? You will find a lot  of games to choose from. Lets not get into detail and lets just talk a bit about cash games and poker tournaments  .

    Why Poker Tournaments?

Online Poker tournaments usually have big prizes  which ofcourse rely  on the buy-in. If you are looking for tournaments with a $5 buy-in then $50,000 prize pool is not bad at all  . You could win about $7,000 there. 5$ buy-in and $7,000… What a great opportunity  ! But the issue is that you could  play 1,000 tournaments and never win one . But still  , you could play 5 and win 2 of them. Online Poker Tournaments are by all odds a good choice because you could  be looking at a big paiday  , you could even retire after you win a certain tournament! Ofcourse, online poker does not always have tournaments with that big volume  . You should choose online poker tournaments if you want to play for a certain amount  and would like to control how much you spend on a given day . It is said that you should  have at least 100x the buy-in in your bankroll to be able to play securely  . Meaning for a $5 tournament you should have  a $500 bankroll. But that is just a basic guideline.

    Why Cash Games?

Cash games are very good if you know how to play , know how to read your opposition  and how to maximize your profits. Most important aspect of cash games is knowing how to pick a game  . If you play aggressively  then definitely go for the tighter tables because it is simpler to steal then  . If you play tight then look for the looser players, they will definitely pay you if you have the nuts ! If you play 20 tables at once then staying focused is VERY IMPORTANT. I never propose this to a  novice because you just don’t have enough time to decide correctly  and eventually youstart making mistakes. Online Poker Cash Games usually have about 20 second window for decisions , some feature a time bank for extra time. If you are experienced  then cash games are the option for you as it is the quickest way to maximize your bankroll.  With cash games, another important aspect arises,
Poker Rakeback which maximizes your earnings  . Think about rakeback as tax refund, you pay rake to a poker room and they refund you a part  – Rakeback.  If you play 10,000 hands per month then rakeback will definitely maximize your  profits. Noxwin Rakeback for example, you get a minimum of 30% rake back, if you rake $3,000, you get $1,000 back! Even governmentsdon’t have such great tax refund! Cash games usually require a tight game style if you play every day, so you would minimize your losses. Do not misunderstand me , you can’t win every single hand, but in the long run you will be in profit . By long run i mean a week, or a month, or a year. Online Poker Cash Game is my suggestion for all people who know a bit of poker  .

Perfect your game, learn the angles, study all that is necessary and beat them all !

  • How to play Omaha poker online

Posted on July 25th, 2010 admin No comments

    Omaha Poker

comparable to Omaha Hi/Lo Poker and Texas Hold’em, Omaha, required its two to ten players to create the best five-card combination from a total of nine cards. The pot is won by the strongest combination . Because the nine cards are made up of four hand cards and five community cards , the resulting combinations are stronger than those in other Poker Games.

    How to play the game

The game begins with the players from the left of the dealer by posting the blinds . The player on the Dealer’s left posts a small blind and the player on the Small Blind’s left places a big blind. Each player receives four pocket cards .  In the first round, the player to the Big Blind’s left plays first and can either Fold/ Bet/ Raise. The flop is dealt in the second round then  a round of betting follows and the players can either Check/ Fold/ Call/ Raise. In the third round, the Turn is dealt . Another betting round follows . The final round of betting begins after the River is dealt . After the betting ends, the remaining players, can use 2 out of their 4 pocket cards and any 3 community cards out of the five from the table to create the strongest 5-cards possible hand

    Tips:
You can use the following strategies to improve your winning chances :

    1. Watch out for the low cards, you are looking for a high hand only ;
    2. Flushes and straights are very common here due to the five community cards that you can select  .

    Omaha Hi/Lo Poker

Omaha High/Low is a popular interpretation of Omaha Poker, is also known as Omaha/8.The lowest hand and the highest hand split in halp the pot in this game . The low hand must contain an 8 or better, and pairs.. For these two hands you can use different cards , and it is possible to win both the high and the low  pot. If there is no qualifying low hand, then the high hand wins the entirely pot. As in Omaha, you must use two cards from your hand and three cards from the community cards, but you can use a different two cards for your high and low hands.

  • A Summary of Opportunities for Affiliates in the Online Poker Genre

Posted on July 25th, 2010 admin No comments

Online poker represents a unique arena for affiliates.  On one hand, the competition is intense, with poker-related keywords and conversions contested at levels approaching pharmaceutical websites in some instances.  On the other hand, no other online industry offers the massive CPA payments and the opportunity for lifetime recurring revenue on referrals that online poker provides.

I was commissioned by a client to prepare a summary study on the various sub-niches existing in the online poker market and to compare and contrast these opportunities.  Once the report was completed, I asked for permission to represent, thinking new affiliates might find usefulness in this brief but inisighful anaylsis.

There are a few basic profit opportunities for affiliates in poker online.  I’m going to review each and give you a quick sense of the general quality, along with the overall potential, of each.  Hopefully by the end of this article you’ll have a better sense of what arena will work best for you.

    More About: Rakeback

Rake back dominates the online poker affiliate landscape .  If you’re not familiar, rakeback is essentially the online poker equivalent of rewards points or cash back.  Rake is how poker rooms make their money – it’s the small fee attached to a tournament entry or the small amount of money taken out of most pots in cash games.  Rakeback is a promotional tool rooms use to attract and hold players.

As you might surmise, rooms are in no hurry to offer rakeback to all players.  The resolution is that they allow affiliates to offer rakeback, providing affiliates with an instant hook for visitors (earn thousands at this site!) without requiring any upfront expenditure.  It’s not a cost-free model, plainly – if you offer rakeback as an affiliate, you earn far less on the players you refer than a standard affiliate – and that long term cost (or profit ceiling, if you will) is rightfully a large disincentive to potential affiliates.

There’s also fierce competition for a limited pool of players in this market , and entry from scratch (especially with a small team or limited budget) will be a uphill battle for sure.   The search engines are all dominated by a cadre of established sites , and those massive players have also contracted with several rooms, using their leverage to secure exclusive promotions that make it even harder for a small operator to compete.

One potential point of entry : A small operator could gain a foothold by operating sites that focus on a smaller room and attempting to secure search engine positioning for those terms, as they’re likely to be less hotly contested than terms for major rooms such as Full Tilt Poker.  Don’t want to build a site from scratch?  Then an alternative is to identify a mid-tier room you’d like to work with and search for rakeback terms related for that room.  Go through the results and attempt to identify sites with decent ranking that appear to be abandoned projects and solicit the owner for purchase.  You’ll get an aged domain with a few backlinks and will save yourself a ton of work and trouble.  For example, a quick search for Carbon Poker Rakeback (a medium sized room on the Merge Network returns several sites that appear to be no longer maintained or updated, much like the linked example above.

Conceivable Affiliate Opportunity:  Poker Software and Data Products

Online poker has really developed as an industry , and as the market has matured, so has the sub-market for ecosystem products (currency trading, software, support, training and so on).  What’s more, with the low production price of many digital products , the affiliate cut is often quite generoussignificant relative to the product price.  One top manufacturer of poker database programs offers affiliates as much as $38 per sale on a $90 product – not bad for a top-flight product that coverts easily.

Identifying the proper product niche can be frustrating, but the popular niche in online poker at the moment is data.  Hand histories, opponent data, tournament data, you name it – if it’s a piece of data related to poker, players want it, and they want as much of it as they can get.  Sites such as Pokerlistings offers substantial affiliate commissions on data sales, and are a low-effort avenue for entering the market.

The tough pill to swallow here is that making money with an small average commission of a few bucks per sale requires some serious traffic to generate any kind of serious income.  If you don’t have a model that will produce such traffic, or at least convert at a unusually high rate on a smaller traffic base, you might want to try a different opportunity

    Poker Affiliate Opportunity: Free Gifts

The third popular model for profiting as an online poker affiliate is through a free gifts set up.  The model is elementary: rooms pay you a certain amount for referring qualified players, and you return part of that payment to players via a system that allows them to claim various gifts (or cash) depending on what room they sign up at.  In it’s most complex form, this system essentially translates user sign ups into a currency that users can then redeem for various items.  In a simple form, the system simply ties specific gifts to specific actions.

This affiliate model is quite popular in other arenas but especially so in online poker.  While there’s certainly a real appeal to this specific niche, that appeal is somewhat mitigated by the serious competition at present.  One idea is to operate as a second-tier affiliate, attempting to monetize traffic by referring visitors to the top free gifts sites.  The other option is to operate a hybrid free poker money site that combines internal offers and some external offers, and to let that site develop slowly, using the data to evaluate where your efforts are best spent.

This final opportunity is probably the superior choice for affiliates just testing the online poker waters, as it requires little specific knowledge and allows you to push the tough work off on the major affiliates in the genre.  You can simply focus on your core skills at content management and SEO, skills that translate well from one arena to the next, and outsource or ignore the more specialized aspects of the market.

This is by no means a comprehensive summary, but ideally it has provided potential affiliates with the broad strokes of the market, and provided them a starting point from which to plan their entry into this fiercely competitive, yet richly profitable, affiliate marketplace.

  • Online Poker Guide For Beginners

Posted on July 15th, 2010 admin No comments

Poker for beginners, how easy is it to start? Not hard! If you know that before starting anything you need to learn about it. Like if you want to drive a car, you have to learn it before you can go drive with the general population. Two things beginners miss are Rakeback and Poker Software. Lets look at software and quickly go over rakeback.

Poker Tracker is great help for beginners, it records hands for later review  , calculates statistics based on that and in general analyses your game and your opponents game . It has lots and lots of useful options  . For beginners they should learn the HUD first , boxes that show on the online poker room table next to every player. These boxes contain statistics about them. There are four basic things beginners should know about statistics. VPIP, PFR, AF and Hands.

VPIP – Voluntarily put in pot. This shows you the percentage of how much you have called the big blind  or someone elses raise. Say everyone folds before you and you call the big blind after folding for nine hands . This would make your VPIP percent 10. You have limped once out of 10 hands meaning you limp 10%. This is only an example, for accurate statistics about your opponent you would need a bigger amount of hands, about a 1,000. The higher VPIP the more hands the player plays which allows you to put your opponent on a certain range of hands that he plays. In a Full Ring game if this is higher then 20% then that is considered high.

PFR – Preflop Raise. PFR defines how much you raise preflop . If everyone folds to you and you raise preflop then it raises your PFR percentage  . Again, if you have folded for nine hands and on the tenth hand you raise then your PFR is 10%. PFR allows you to put opponents on a range of hands with what they raise. If it is below 15% or even under 10% then it is obvious that the player plays only very good hands . The bigger the percent the looser the player.

AF – Aggression Factor. This shows how aggressive you or your opponent are. This statistic is based on three bets, preflop raises, calls and basically everything else you do during the hand that is played. It is said that up to 0.7% AF is passive and greater than 1.5% AF is aggressive. In low limits for example it is completely normal if your AF is over 2% on the flop, turn and river. This depends a lot on the stakes you play and also on your game style  . If you play only premium hands then you must play your big hands aggressively , meaning that you bet, raise and re-raise whenever you have a good hand.

Hands – This is self explanatory. It is just the number of hands that have been tracked for a specific player .

It is also important to sign up for rakeback. For beginners it would be best to look for Opoker Rakeback or 888 Poker Rakeback because they offer a large amount of loose players making it easier for a beginner to gain a profit in the long run. Rakeback offers the player a certain percentage back from the fees they have paid to a poker room, like a tax refund! Making your net profit even bigger . It is normal to pay $1,000 rake during a month and with an average rakeback of 30% you can get back $300!

  • Learning PLO: Brief Tips

Posted on July 13th, 2010 admin No comments

Pot limit omaha is a pleasurable game, however correct strategy has the potential to be mystifying to new online poker players.  Here are a few swift suggestions to aid newbies improve their plo game. If you’re looking for advanced help, CardRunners is a good starting point.

Realize that you should have to toss the nuts a few times.  Just because you flop the best plo hand does not all the time signify you have to put your stack in on the flop.  Let’s assume you flop a straight with no flush draw. What will you do if you raise and the poker table goes wild behind you?  You recognize that another player probably has a set, at the very least, if not your straight along with a flush draw.  If two online poker players raise you, then you have to fold. When there may be that much action, someone is a favorite over yourself, bottom line.  In case you have most of your stack in, sure, call, but otherwise simply be prepared to exit even though you still can and don’t get too emotionally involved to those hands. Also, do not ever straddle.

Stop playing hands with danglers. You usually loathe peeling up AAKss and then finding a lowly offsuit 7 to go together with your three quality cards. Realize that in pot limit omaha you should have all your cards to work together or you’re fundamentally playing with a handicap.  You would not play holdem with a single card, so why would you rip-off yourself in Pot limit omaha? However, not including the addition of the fourth helping card, like QJ108 or KKJ10 rather than the cards listed above, you are basically playing hold em regardless that everyone else is playing omaha; make certain your cards are functioning mutually as much as possible when selecting starting hands. Another tip: get rakeback.

You must remain very particular regarding the type of combinations you play with in Pot limit omaha, particularly the kind of draws you call with in PLO.  If you end up spending chips with low flush potential. and non-nut straight drawing hands, you ought to rethink your plan for the future.

Playing these combinations only puts you in solemn trouble, since you will lose a ton of cash to participants with the top hand when you do make your hand, but you’re most unlikely to get any value from weaker hands for the reason that no one pays off with tiny draws in PLO.  Bear in mind, should you decide to draw, just draw to the top flush or straight.

  • Cash Game Strategy

Posted on July 13th, 2010 admin No comments

Doyle Brunson favours raising all-in against someone if he has a good draw, even though he knows he will be behind when he gets called. The grounds for such behaviour is to put pressure to your opposition so he would fold, this leaves you the winner of an average pot. If you get called, you still have outs!

This is a quitecomplicated move, but it works with seasoned poker players as they have the ability and the nerve to throw away decent hands  . Attempting this against weaker players might be bad because they will call you too oftenly so you can’t have profitability with this move. I saw one poker player at Noxwin online poker room who called all-in bets on the flop with AK without anything on the flop matching his cards  . He caught an ace on the turn in one hand and in other hands he won without improving! Only because the opposition tried to force him out of the pot with a draw or something like it.

For example, bluffing in order to „advertise“ yourself has no point against the weaker players because they “just don’t get it“! If you haven’t played a hand for a longer period and you push all-in pre-flop with AA and they have like JJ then they will never fold because they probably have not noticed that you have just sat for an hour  . There is no point to throw money around trying to build a loose image with weak players at the table, it works against good players.

Just wait for the bigger hands and put your money in if you are sure that you’re the favourite . Weak players will most likely make a mistake and call your all-in when they are far behind.

Lets say you have joined a poker room with Rakeback, like Noxwin Rakeback, and you are playing at $3/$6 no limit holdem. Weak player raises to $20 pre-flop , you have pocket kings and re-raise to $60. Only the weak player stays in the pot  . You think you should have the weaker player beat as they would most definitely move all-in pre-flop with KK or AA. Here you already have earned decently with Rakeback.

Flop comes 2-6-6 and he checks. It would be smart  move all-in right there or at least make a very big bet. If they are holding  AK they will call a average bet on the flop even if they should not. Go all-in and make sure they get the point  . Even weak players are smart enough to fold AK if the flop is 2-6-6 and they have to put in everything they have at the table  . If they call then you will be a big favourite (you survive the turn and river 76% of hands). Do not ever bet little with your overpair – even with pocket aces. Best option is to  move all-in and if they are so keen on calling you, they will anyway. Whether you bet $110 or $200 on the flop.

Make sure you get Rakeback when you join with an online poker room as it will help you ease the pain of losing to weaker players who „suck out“ on the turn or the river. That way you can easily say: „Hey, at least i’m getting Rakeback and my loss isn’t that big“.

  • The History of Video Poker

Posted on July 9th, 2010 admin No comments

While video poker may seem like a recent invention, in reality it is one of the older enduring gambling games . Its modern incarnation remains as popular today as in all the time video poker machines have appeared in casinos.

Video poker actually pre-dates the existence of the popular slot machine . In 1891, in Brooklyn, New York, the company Sittman and Pitt developed a machine that contained card symbols printed on five different drums. Pulling a lever would generate a poker hand that would be used to determine prizes. This machine may even have been the inspiration for many of our modern slot machines.

In the ‘1970s, video poker began to appear in many places , starting with Dale Electronics’ Poker-Matic machine in 1970. Although players initially were wary of the machines since they were mistrustful of the electronic systems, as society became more electronics-friendly, the machines gained large popularity.

By the 1980s, video poker machines could be found in nearly every casino, with wild card variations such as Joker Poker and Deuces Wild adding to the attraction. These machines, which allowed players to enjoy the thrill of poker without needing to compete directly with other players, proved extremely popular and were a great source of casino revenue.

Video poker proved to translate extremely well to the online games , since video poker functions in almost exactly the same way whether live or online. Today’s online video poker machines offer a wide variety of ways to play, including progressive machines with jackpots in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. This has not signaled the end of the live video poker machine however. Anyone can go to their local casino with confidence that along with the banks of slot machines and table games there will be an ample assortment of video poker options for players to try their luck. With the recent boom in real poker, casinos are even more eager to lure curious players to their video poker machines, which offer a much larger financial benefit to the casino than traditional poker play.

If you can play poker, then you can for sure play video poker. Even if you don’t play traditional poker, a quick review of the strength of hands is pretty much all you need to get started. When you’re ready to give it a shot, you can go to nearly any online casino to start enjoying the excitement of video poker.

If you are looking for some of the best video poker games known on the planet then take a trip to beautiful Moncton New Brunswick in Canada. Here you will find the grande New Brunswick Casino , or as the local french population refers to it as Casino Nouveau Brunswick . The craps tables here are amongst the best in the world and the payouts are fantastic.  Also if you just looking for a great casino environment in general then you really cannot beat Casino New Brunswick !
