Female WSOP Event Winner

Lisa Hamilton, a woman originally from Hawaii, claimed the first-place prize of $195,390 and a World Series of Poker winner’s bracelet at 2009 Ladies Poker Championship in Las Vegas. The buy-in was $1,000, and Hamilton outlasted 1,059 other entrants.

Hamilton came to watch a friend play and didn’t plan to enter this tournament. “I entered at the last minute,” Hamilton said. “I kept telling my friend, ‘I’m not playing.’ I decided to play and I don’t even know how I made it this far. I’m shocked.’”

Hamilton said she will enter the WSOP main event.
