  • Poker Tournament Tips: Teaching You To Become a Winning Poker Tournament Competitor

Posted on December 13th, 2009 admin No comments

Holdem poker tournaments are where the most awesome card-games competition takes place. If you are a poker fan, you are probably imagining about being in one – and with the Internet help, you can! But in order for you to finish “in the money”, some tournament poker tips are required. We hope that the following tips will guide you toward a lucrative tournament career. Also it seldom hurts to use a good online poker guide or study several great poker books

    Poker Tournament Tips

    • The most basic of tournament poker tips is that continued existence is the name of the game. The games differ a lot from the regular cash games – you start with the same stack as everyone else and you finish once your stack is exhausted. Make one mistake too many – and you are permanently sent to the rail. Don’t re-raise players, if you realize that their cards are more successful, and carefully check yourself before you act.

    • Acting solely with powerful cards are one of the most important poker tournament tips. Your rivals will greatly enjoy getting rid of you. You can’t go toe-to-toe with them, unless you have something serious to fight with. Fold a hand that is worthless and observe how your rivals are playing among them.

    • Steal the blinds whenever feasible. Of all the tournament poker tips, this one is normally forgotten by the competitors. If you are at the late position with winning stakes, raise 3-4 times the size of the blind, so that small blind and big blind will fold. In a Holdem tournament, you need every benefit that you can get, even if it’s just a blind and a half.

    • Now that we have covered the tournament poker tips that deal with prolonging your survival, time to talk about one that curtails the survival of your contenders. The all-in situation is probably the highest tension point of Holdem tournaments. If you’re the chip leaders with an impressive hand, go all-in when facing a short stack. Pressurize and force your rival to either fold or play his final hand for tonight.

    • Despite all the tournament poker tips, a probability of being a short stack always exists. Your strategy, then, should be going all-in once you have a strong hand – and then praying that you double or triple your stack, or at least steal the blinds. Don’t make the blunder of simply calling or waiting too long. The blinds will gobble up your stack while you’re passively waiting.

    • The previous tournament poker tips relate to any stage of the tournament, but the following one refers to a specific period of time. The participants play extremely fearfully as the bubble is near. They are scared with the thought of being driven out of the tournament before getting paid. This is where you should be even more aggressive, stealing any pots which are accessible.

    • Be aware that in card-games there are also quite a few poor tournament poker tips and strategies. For example, a lot of online players can’t help going all-in at the start of the tournament, trying to get an early advantage. This is not the kind of technique to implement – just follow the tournament poker tips we’ve listed and avoid those loose fellows. Hope that these tournament poker tips bring you the tournament recognition and wealth that you deserve.

  • How To Become A Successful Online Poker Player

Posted on December 6th, 2009 admin No comments

For me playing poker is not just about attempting to win money, it is also fun. The hands come around in a much speedier manner than when you play at a casino. I have played on some days when I think that I will never be dealt a decent hand. It is very tempting to try to make something happen by betting on a hand which in reality I know I should throw away. This is a risky strategy and you need to be patient as your time will come.

The people who are making the money in online poker rooms are the ones who have this patience. Many a player can become rather bored in this situation and this can see them start to waste their stack.

I would like to make it clear that I am by no means a professional poker player; for a living I work for a composite door company where I sell, as you can no doubt imagine, composite doors. I also help people to stop stuttering in my spare time by running a one-to-one speech course and by a variety of self-help stuttering therapy options.

There will always be the nutter type of player who we will come across from time to time – these players are ones that bet large amounts on virtually ever hand. These players may win a lot of chips in a short period of time, however in the long run will always lose.

Poker can become quite addictive, therefore only bet what you can afford to lose. Play the game as a hobby and enjoy it, you are more likely to win with this attitude. I know people who attempt to win a certain amount of money per night and then go chasing this figure if they start to struggle. I would have to say that this is not the best idea. I accept that I will win on some nights and lose on others. With the right approach and as the last two years have shown me, I should win in the long term.
